Obituary of Cole, James " Oliver "
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Saturday, July 27th , 2013 of James " Oliver " Cole of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 95 years. Veteran of World War II . Oliver was born on March 27th , 1918 in French River, P.E.I..
Beloved husband of Jean ( nee Pickering ) Cole and also his first wife, the late Annie ( nee Thornton ) Cole. Loving father of Eric ( Tammy ) Cole and Pam Perry all of Summerside and step-father of Gail Taylor, Brenda McIlwaine ( Frank ), Orien ( Dorothy ) Smith, Shirley ( Jerome ) Dowling, Glenn ( Marie ) Smith, Dennis ( Laurie ) Smith and Cathy ( Blaine ) Morrow all of Winsloe. Also lovingly remembered by his step brother Earl Champion, 7 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 13 step great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his first wife, Oliver was predeceased by his step-son Norman Smith, step-brothers Gerald and Dawson Champion and step-sister Rita Burt.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, July 31st , then to the Summerside Presbyterian Church, Summerside for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Oliver's memory to the Summerside Presbyterian Church would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening only , 6 - 9 p.m.. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 5, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 5:45 p.m. .

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
