Obituary of Mercer, Gerald Arthur
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday June 10th, 2013 of Gerald "Jerry" Arthur Mercer of Kensington, P.E.I. and formerly of New London, P.E.I., aged 87 years. Jerry was born on March 20th, 1926 in Hartford Connecticut, U.S.A to his late parents Frank and Grace (nee Davis ) Mercer.
Loving Father of Neil of New York, Stuart ( Karen ) of Virginia, Sharon Bassette of Florida, Arthur ( Mary Lou ) of Florida, William of Maine, Russell ( Marilyn ) of Colorado and Rachel Mercer ( Fiance John Vastag ) of Florida and Park Corner. Also lovingly remembered by 13 grandchildren. Survived by his sister Judith Rockwell of Cape Cod, special grandfather to Maxx Mercer- Montgomery, uncle to Todd Kittridge of Cape Cod and Wendy ( Van ) Northcross of Cape Cod.
Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his brother in-law Jim Rockwell. Jerry was a 3rd generation, lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. By Mr. Mercer's request there will be no visiting hour or funeral service held. Interment to take place in Geddy Memorial Cemetery, Springbrook, P.E.I. at a later date. Memorial donations in Jerry's memory to the P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
