Obituary of Arsenault, Joseph " Nazaire "
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, April 29th , 2013 of Joseph " Nazaire " Arsenault of Summerside and formerly of Mont-Carmel, P.E.I., aged 82 years. Nazaire was born on January 21st, 1931 in Egmont Bay, P.E.I. to his late parents Tilmon and Aldona Arsenault.
Beloved husband of Emma ( nee Gallant ) Arsenault and loving father of Sylvia ( Dave ) Barron of Red Deer, AB., Teresa ( Blair ) Aitken of Summerville, P.E.I., Noella ( Carl ) Arsenault of Kanata, ON., Melvin ( Elizabeth MacKay ) of Winsloe, Gerald of Summerside, Yvette Tanner ( John Cameron ) of Summerside, Catherine ( David ) Bulger of Dartmouth, N.S. and Joanne ( Jeff ) Steele of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild , 4 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by the following brothers and sisters : Zelda Shepard of Hamilton, ON., Robert of Summerside, Leonce ( Paula ) of Cantly, QC., Urbain ( Noreen ) of Mont-Carmel, Agnes ( Ivan ) Maillet of Moncton, N.B., Clair ( Shirley ) of Stratford, Paul ( Helen ) of Cornwall, Raymond ( Sandra ) of Summerside and Mariette ( Yvon ) Banville of Gatineau, QC.
Besides his parents, Nazaire was predeceased by his step-mother Célina Arsenault, his brother Réné, his sister Theresé in infancy, his sisters-in-law Lorraine and Brenda Arsenault and his sons-in-law Edward " Ted " Simmons and Robert " Bob " Tanner.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday, May 2nd, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Nazaire's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday, May 1st, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.. Dr. W.E. Callaghan Knights of Columbus council 2070 will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. all brother Knights are welcome to attend.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
