Obituary of McArthur, Edward " Garfield "
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, March 4th , 2013 of Edward " Garfield " McArthur of Summerside and formerly of Enmore, P.E.I., aged 75 years.
Garfield was born on May 7th , 1937 in Enmore, P.E.I. to his late parents James and Olive McArthur. Beloved husband of Amy ( nee Shaw ) McArthur and loving father of Olive McNeill of Linkletter, Delton ( Tammy ) of Summerside and Deletra ( John ) Curtis of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Survived by his sister Lilly ( Aubrey ) Morrell of Moncton, N.B. and his brother Wilfred ( Gloria ) of Travellers Rest.
Besides his parents, Garfield was predeceased by his son David, his brothers Hughie, Stanley and George and son-in-law Roger McNeill.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, March 6th for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to take place in the Brooklyn United Pentecostal Cemetery. Memorial donations in Garfield's memory to the United Pentecostal Church of Summerside would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
