Obituary of Gunning, George Wesley " Wes "

The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, January 17th , 2013 of George Wesley " Wes " Gunning of Travellers Rest, P.E.I. , aged 81 years. Wes was born on June 17th , 1931 in Travellers Rest, P.E.I. to his late parents George W. and Violet ( nee Wall ) Gunning. Beloved husband of Freda ( nee Muttart ) Gunning and loving father of Wendy of Sherbrooke and Paul of Travellers Rest. Also lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren: Holly ( Mitch ), Kyle, Wil, Megan, Tracy, Jenny and Christa , his 3 great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Aurora and Ilona and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by his sisters Margaret ( Bernard ), Lillian and Muriel and his brother Elton. Besides his parents, Wes was predeceased by his brother Johnny, his sister Marion Clarke and his grandson Travis Chappell. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, January 21st , for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Visiting hours on Sunday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wes's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
