Obituary of O'Connor, George Michael
The death occurred peacefully at Toronto , ON. on Monday , June 4th , 2012 of George Michael O'Connor, in his 85th year. George was born in Kildare, P.E.I. to his late parents, Emmet and Ruth ( nee McIntyre ) O'Connor.
Beloved husband of Anita ( nee Laughlin ) O'Connor and loving father of Mary-Ruth ( David ) Sturch of Oshawa , ON. and Paul ( Penny ) O'Connor of Barrie, ON. . Survived by his sisters Helen Toye of Lynn, Mass. , U.S.A. , Agnes ( Edward ) Laughlin of Brantford, ON. and Gertrude Gerard of Richmond Hill , ON. Also survived by sisters and brothers -in-law : Claire Matthews , Teresa Johnson, Urban ( Mary ) Laughlin and Allison Laughlin. George will be dearly missed by his grandchildren , nieces, nephews and many other relatives and good friends.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brothers Frank, Leo, Roland and Cyril O'Connor, his sisters Mary and Alice Foley and the following brothers and sisters-in-law : Errol ( Margaret ) Laughlin, Helen Mahood, Harold Matthews, John Johnson, Joe and Howard Foley.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside , P.E.I. until Saturday,June 16th , 2012 then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. . Interment to take place at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery , Alberton at 2:15 P.M.. Visiting hours on Friday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
