Obituary of MacIsaac, Basil Joseph
The death occurred peacefully at his late residence, on Friday, May 11th , 2012 of Basil Joseph MacIsaac of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 72 years. Basil was born on January 27th, 1940 in Munns Road, P.E.I. to his late parents Joseph & Laurena ( nee Jarvis ) MacIsaac .
Beloved husband of Darlene MacLaurin ( nee Murray ) and loving step-father of Robert of Summerside, companion to Bear & Mia ( his K9 family ) and father of Jane (Robert Gaudet) of Tignish, Shannon ( Lloyd Napolian ), Darren ( Doreen ) MacIsaac all of N.S. and Lisa MacIsaac of Charlottetown. Survived by his brothers & sisters Shirley ( Harold ) Martin of Summerside, Lauretta ( Tom ) Martin of Kensington, David ( Anne ) MacIsaac and Charlie (Nina ) MacIsaac all of Tyne Valley. Also lovingly remembered by his 7 grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Basil was predeceased by his son Kenneth Joseph in infancy and his sister Jean Gallant.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, May 14th for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11.00 a.m. . Interment to take place in Victoria West People's Cemetery. Visiting hours on Sunday evening only 7 - 9 p.m. . Memorial donations in Basil's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
