Obituary of Aitken, Obeline " Obie " Mary
The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, March 9th , 2012 of Obeline "Obie" Mary Aitken ( nee LaPierre ) of Summerside, P.E.I. and formerly of West Chezzetcook, N.S., aged 78 years. Obie was born on November 8th , 1933 in West Chezzetcook, N.S. to her late parents Jarvis and Rita ( nee Roma ) LaPierre.
Beloved wife of Neil "Skip" Aitken and loving mother of Charlene McPherson ( Cory Baglole ) of Canmore, AB. and Peter Aitken of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Memphis Aitken and Kearstyn McPherson. Survived by her sister Elaine ( Felix ) Bellefontaine and brother Douglas ( Pat ) LaPierre all of West Chezzetcook, N.S. and her sister-in-law Mickey LaPierre of Dartmouth, N.S..
Besides her parents, Obie was predeceased by her sister Beryl Lawrence and brother Harvey LaPierre.
By personal request there will be no visiting hours or funeral service held. A committal service at St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside will take place at a later date. Memorial donations in Obie's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
