Obituary of MacKinnon, Frank
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Stewart Memorial Hospital, Tyne Valley, P.E.I. on Wednesday, March 7th , 2012 of Frank MacKinnon of Tyne Valley, aged 90 years. Frank was born on May 19th , 1921 in Portage, P.E.I. to his late parents James and Pearl ( nee Adams ) MacKinnon.
Beloved husband of Myrtle ( nee Milligan ) MacKinnon and loving father of Joyce Ramsay of Arlington, Kelsey ( Pam ) of Tyne Valley and Reby MacKinnon of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren : Trevor ( Elizabeth ) and Todd ( Lori ) Ramsay, Tasia and Adam Lambe and Mitchell Phillips , his two great-grandchildren Harrison and Jackson Ramsay along with many nieces and nephews. Survived by his sister Reby Milligan of Tyne Valley and sister-in-law Hattie MacKinnon of Ellerslie.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by brothers Keith, Edward and Kelsey in infancy , his son-in-law Harry Ramsay and brother-in-law Charles Milligan.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, March 9th , then to the Bideford United Church, Bideford for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Frank's memory to the Stewart Memorial Hospital Foundation or to Bideford United Church would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday , 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
