Obituary of Gallant, Wilfred Joseph
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, August 5th, 2011 of 'Wilfred' Joseph Gallant of Borden Carleton, P.E.I. and formerly of Summerside, aged 79 years. Wilfred was born on September 23rd, 1931 in Mont Carmel, P.E.I. to his late parents, Joseph & Anna ( nee Thompson ) Gallant.
Beloved husband of the late Louise (nee Marshall) Gallant and loving father of Ann (Bruce) Campbell of Borden Carleton, Wilfred (Linda) of Halifax, N.S., Chris of Halifax, Micheal (Jeanette) of Dartmouth, N.S., Barry (Herb) of Indian River, Merrick (Donna) of Summerside and David (Christine) of Travellers Rest. Also lovingly remembered by his 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by his brother James of Ontario.
Besides his wife and parents, Wilfred was predeceased by his brother Louie and sisters Theresa & Roselyn.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, August 9th, then to St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Wilfred's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the P.E.I. Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated . Visiting hours on Monday evening only, 7 - 9 p.m.. Comrades of the George R. Pearkes VC Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance for their late Comrade at 6:45 P.M. on Monday evening at the funeral home.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
