Obituary of Arsenault, Shirley Irene
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tuesday, June 7th , 2011 of Shirley Irene Arsenault ( nee MacDougall ) of Summerside and formerly of Grand River, P.E.I. , aged 72 years. Shirley was born on July 4th , 1938 in Grand River, P.E.I. to her late parents Edward and Frances ( nee Curley ) MacDougall.
Beloved wife of the late Armand Arsenault and loving mother of Gerald ( Elaine ) of Summerside and Gary of Brandon, Manitoba. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kristie and Mitchell Arsenault,her brothers and sisters : Dorothy Gallant of Moncton, N.B., Alma Batherson of Rumford, Maine, Bob ( Dorothy ) MacDougall of Grand River, Millie Hand of Kenner, Louisiana, Jim ( Irene ) MacDougall of Grand River and sisters-in-law Loretta MacDougall of Maine and Faustina MacDougall of Grand River.
Besides her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by sisters and brothers Eva Cregan, Arthur and Walter MacDougall, Helen Guccoine and brothers-in-law Jim Cregan, Gerald Gallant, John L. Batherson, Gene Hand and Vince Guccione.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside where a private funeral service will be held for family and close friends. By personal request there will be no visiting hours. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. Donations in Shirley's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
