Obituary of Morrison, Gerald " Jerry " Joseph
The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown , P.E.I. on Friday, January 7th , 2011 of Gerald " Jerry " Joseph Morrison of Grand River, P.E.I. in his 70th year. Jerry was born on February 18th , 1941 in Grand River, P.E.I. to his late parents, Michael and Ella ( nee MacDougall ) Morrison.
Survived by brothers and sisters : Lois Wood of Boston, Ormand of Toronto, Brad of Toronto and Peggy ( Eric ) Arsenault of Stratford, P.E.I., his sister-in-law Mary Morrison of Portland, Maine. Also lovingly remembered by nephews and nieces : William Wood Jr. of California, Linda ( Jack ) O'Connor of Boston, Susan ( Ralph ) Carpenter, Janet Colucci and Kevin Morrison all of Portland, Maine, Greg Arsenault and Denise Arsenault of Stratford, P.E.I. and Andy ( Erin ) Arsenault of Halifax, N.S. .
Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by brothers Leonard, Urban, Roderick, Vernon and Joseph in infancy, his sister Noreen, brother-in-law William Wood and sister-in-law Jesse ( MacDonald ) Morrison.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, January 11th, then to St. Patrick's Church , Grand River for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Monday , 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. . Memorial donations in Jerry's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Patrick's Church Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
