Obituary of Simmons, Allison Roger
The death occurred suddenly at his late residence on Thursday, January 6th , 2011 of Allison R. Simmons of Calgary, Alberta and formerly of Summerside, P.E.I. , aged 59 years. Allison was born on May 10th , 1951 in Summerside, P.E.I. to his late parents, Bernard Simmons and Bernice Lockhart.
Beloved husband of Gertie and lovingly remembered by step-daughters Darlene ( Joel ) and Sherry ( Dave ) all of Calgary, AB., his sisters Geraldine and Elma ( Ralph ) of Summerside, Beverely of U.S.A., his brothers James ( Linda ) of Summerside and Ronald of Toronto, ON., his grandchildren Caitlin, Sarah and Davey, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, Allison was predeceased by brother Gary and sister Imelda.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, January 17th for a Celebration of Allison's Life at the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. No visiting hours by personal request. Memorial donations in Allison's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
