Obituary of Miles, Freeman
The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital on Sunday, August 1 of Freeman Miles age 82. Born to late parents Julia & James Miles in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, on August 11, 1927.
Husband to Betty Miles and proud father of Freena Bradley (Ken Doyle) Charlottetown, Julie Miles, Cardigan, Jim (Janice) Miles, Charlottetown, Gary (Bethany) Miles, Bedford, NS, Karen Miles (Andy Ewen), Australia, and Peggy Miles, Summerside. Grandfather to Andrea & Michael Robison, Frank & Jennifer Bradley, Kelly, Jamie & Danny Miles, Kaitlin & Jeffery Miles, Jordon Ewen and great-grandfather to Kaitlyn Bradley. Sister to Mary Stone, brother-in-law to Iris (Raoul) McKay and nephew of Clara Strickland and Alma Hardy. Predeceased by daughter Shirley Miles, sister Elsie Mingo, brother in law Frank Stone, and son in law Mike Bradley .
As a young man, Freeman served in the Merchant Navy, followed by a 31 year career as manager at M.F. Schurman Ltd. He was involved in the curling community for many years. He is a life member of the Summerside Royal Canadian Legion. He also served as Councillor and Chairman of the St. Eleanor's Community Council and was involved in a variety of community endeavors.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, August 4th, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside for funeral service at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to follow at Floral Hill Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 6 - 9 p.m. only.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shirley Miles Bursary Fund at the University of King's College, Halifax would be gratefully received.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
