Obituary of DesRoches, Mary Blanche
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Monday, June 14th , 2010 of Mary Blanche DesRoches ( nee Bernard ) of Miscouche, P.E.I. , aged 95 years. Mary was born on June 18th , 1914 in St. Louis , P.E.I. to her late parents Benjamine & Madeline ( nee Gaudet ) Bernard.
Beloved wife of the late Urbain J. DesRoches and loving mother of Emily ( Cecil ) Ramsay of S'side, Flo ( Claude ) Gaudet of S'side, Julia ( Claude ) Albert of Miscouche, Anita Greenway of Ontario, John ( Bernie) of Miscouche, Cecilia ( Normand ) DesAutels of Quebec, Olive (late Gerald ) Allain of Miscouche, Stella ( Marcel ) Arsenault of Wellington, Marcelle ( Rene Tremblay ) of St. Nicholas, Marie ( Gil ) Rouleau of Miscouche, Wilfred ( Linda ) of Linkletter & Wilbert ( Patti ) of Miscouche. Also lovingly remembered by her 36 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Survived by her sisters Doris MacKinnon of Miscouche & Rita Chaisson of St. Louis , her brother Gerard Bernard of Ontario and her sister-in-law Kathleen Bernard of Alberton.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her son Bernard in infancy, her sisters Judith, Ida, Maggie Ann, Olive & Emily, her brothers Alphonse, Isaac, Sosime, Joshua & Joseph and her sons-in-law Neil MacFarlane, Lewis Young, David Greenway & Gerald Allain.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Friday, June 18th, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.. Memorial donations in Mary's memory to St. John the Baptist Church would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
