Obituary of Lockhart, Bernice Estelle

The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital , Summerside on Monday, March 15th , 2010 of Bernice Estelle Lockhart ( nee Beaton ) of Summerside, P.E.I. aged 88 years. Bernice was born on December 12th , 1921 , in St. Chrysostome, P.E.I. to her late parents Venantius Beaton and Lillian ( Luke ) MacDonald and step daughter of the late Thomas MacDonald. Beloved wife of the late Aubrey Lockhart and her first husband Bernard Simmons. Loving mother of Geraldine Gallant, James ( Linda ) Simmons & Elma ( Ralph ) Noye all of Summerside, Ron Simmons of Toronto, On., Allison ( Gertie ) Simmons of Calgary, AB. and Beverly Simmons of Massachusetts USA. Also loving Nanny to 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Survived by her brother & sisters, JD ( Elizabeth ) MacDonald, Carm (Wayne) Rix and Mary ( Lloyd ) Kelly. Besides her husbands and parents, Bernice was predeceased by son Gary Simmons, daughter Imelda Simmons, her siblings John Joseph Beaton, John Richards, Albert Gallant and Deborah DesRoches, granddaughter Kimberly Simmons and son-in law Arthur Gallant. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, March 17th , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bernice's memory to the Prince County Hospice Palliative Care would be greatly appreciated.
