Obituary of MacDonald, Karen Anne
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her family & friends at the Prince County Hospital , Summerside on Thursday, February 25th , 2010 of Karen Anne MacDonald of Long River, P.E.I. ,and formerly of Summerside aged 50 years. Karen was born on November 10th, 1959, in Summerside to her parents Lorraine MacDonald ( nee Pineau ) of S'side & Nelson ( Ruth ) MacDonald of Thompson, Man. .
Special friend of Kevin Clow and his daughter Melanie. Also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters & brother Cathy, Susan ( Mike ) Waite and Michael all of S'side.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, March 1st, 2010 for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m.. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Visiting hours on Monday 1:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Karen's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Prince County Hospital Palliative Care would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
