Obituary of Rogers, Bertha Adeline
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside , P.E.I. on Wednesday, May 6th , 2009 of Bertha Adeline Rogers ( nee Arsenault ) of Summerside , aged 102 years. Bertha was born on June 8th , 1906 in Miscouche, P.E.I. to her late parents Bruno & Nelida Arsenault. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Rogers.
Loving mother of Marjorie ( Earl ) Baker of Calgary, Ab., Eleanor 'Kitty' ( Norman ) MacLeod of S'side, Donald of S'side, Joan ( Fred ) Hodge of S'side & Muriel Darch of Vancouver, B.C. . Also lovingly remembered by her sister Mary Aitken of Middleton, N.S. , her son-in-law Earl Arsenault of Sault Ste. Marie, On. , 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.
Besides her parents & her husband, Bertha was predeceased by her daughters Irene Rogers & Patricia Arsenault, her grandson Thomas Baker, her sisters Anna Arsenault & Rosella Pineau & her son-in-law Kenneth Darch.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, May 9th then to St. Paul's Church , Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery . Memorial donations in Bertha's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly accepted. Visiting hours on Friday , 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
