Obituary of Newsome, Mary
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Monday, January 11th, 2021 of Mary Newsome (Mallett) of Summerside, aged 69 years. Mary was born in Alberton and grew up in Miscouche, P.E.I. Daughter of Hazel (Cotton) and the late Frederick Mallett.
Loving mother of Kim Newsome (Jason Dickie) and proud grandma to Brett.
Survived by her brothers and sisters Jean Hoitsma, Barb Poirier, Wanda Mallett, Junior Mallett, Peter (Elizabeth) Mallett, Patsy (Roy) Arsenault, Annie (Mike) Arsenault and her sisters in-law Debbie and Karen Mallett. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her infant daughter Shelley Dawn, infant grandson Cole, sister Joyce Cormier, brothers Brian and Paul Mallett, brothers-in-law Wayne Poirier and Clarence Cormier and by her biological mother Zita O'Brien.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. Due to Covid-19 there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. Private family interment will take place at a later date in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Miscouche. Memorial donations in Mary's memory can be made directly to the IWK Foundation or PEI Cancer Treatment Centre.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
