The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 of Alfred Moore aged 88 years. Alfred was born in Sydney, NS to the late Noel and Mary Eliza (Sylliboy) Moore.
Loving father of Gery, Karen (Randy) Waugh, Denise and Alison (Joseph Mundy). Cherished grandfather of Olivia (Corey) Stairs, Caitlin and Matthew. Alfred felt blessed to have recently become a great grandfather to Sophie Stairs.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son Kenneth, his sister Mary Margaret (in infancy) and brothers Carl (Margaret - deceased), Barry (Linda - deceased) and Ralph.
Alfred will also be missed by his former wife of many years Olive (Moore) and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Alfred grew up on the Membertou First Nation in Cape Breton, NS. As a young man, he worked at his father's hardwood flooring refinishing business. At the same time, he upgraded himself through distance education. Alfred enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954 and served 31 years primarily as an Aero Engine Technician and later as an Instructor with the Junior Leadership Schools at CFB Summerside and CFB Shearwater, NS. At the time of his retirement, Alfred had proudly attained the rank of Master Warrant Officer. Alfred was strongly devoted to his faith and to St. Anne as evidenced by his annual pilgrimage to Chapel Island, Cape Breton to attend the sacred St. Anne's Mission. A longtime fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, Alfred also enjoyed curling, golfing, gardening, watching the birds at his backyard feeders and he was a pretty good cook and baker too. He had a never-ending quest for knowledge and enjoyed conducting on-line research, often with the goal of helping others. A self taught carpenter and craftsman, he had a strong work ethic and took pride in completing projects to the best of his ability. To his credit, he built two homes for his family from start to finish. Those who knew him best can attest to the high quality of his work. Alfred didn't let his advancing years or health issues stand in his way of tackling projects big and small. He could look at any situation, find the solution and focus his skills and efforts on arriving at a beautiful end result. He especially enjoyed taking upon himself projects that helped those he loved the most.
He will forever be missed by those who loved him.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
