
Obituary of Sharon Anne Montgomery
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI on January 26th, 2025 of Sharon Anne Montgomery (Paynter) of Summerside and formally of Freetown, age 74 years. Sharon was born in Summerside to her late parents Cecil and Hazel Paynter. Beloved wife of Alan and loving mother of Laura (Ernie MacDonald) and Mark (Pam). Lovingly remembered by Holly and Jack MacDonald as well as Jake and Jordan Gallant, also remembered by Erik and Wendy Jilson. Survived by the following sister, Carol Montgomery (Bruce) and sister-in-law Flora Paynter. Predeceased by brother Claude Paynter.
Sharon had a special love for music and was a member of the church choir for many years. Sharon also took pleasure in her many plants, gardening, travel and beautiful scenery, in particular sunrises, sunsets and rainbows.
No visiting hours by personal request. A service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held at Summerside Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at 3:30 pm followed by a reception at 4:00 pm in the church fellowship hall.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Sharon’s memory to Summerside Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
