
Obituary of Joseph Donald Sonier
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, PEI on Monday April 7th, 2025 of Joe Donald Sonier of Summerside, aged 83 years. Joe was born in Summerside to the late Oliver and Catherine (DesRoches) Sonier.
Beloved husband of Yvonne (Arsenault) Sonier and loving father of Gregory Sonier.
Survived by his brothers Ralph (Norma) Sonier, Mickey (Velda) Sonier, Jules Sonier, his twin sister Dorothy (Jim) Hancock, sister Elizabeth Johns, brother in-law Mick McConkey and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sisters Helen (Bob) Guy, Barbara McConkey, Catherine (James) Puddifant, brother Bray Sonier and brother in-law Frank Jones.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd. Summerside. By personal request there will be not visiting hours or funeral service held. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
