
Obituary of Kenneth Joseph DesRoches
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Joseph DesRoches of Cornwall, PEI at the young age of 67 years surrounded by his loving family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, PEI on Saturday April 19, 2025. Ken was born in Summerside, PEI to the late Adrian and Evelyn (Gallant) .
Beloved husband of Marilyn (March) DesRoches and loving father of Carrie (Tim) Hannams, Megan (Jeremy) Brown, step-father of Chris (Lori) March, Dana (Donnie) MacInnis. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Harlow, London and Sloane, step grandchildren Shawn, Jordan, Nathan, Issac and Caleb.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Thelma Hickey, Norma DesRoches (Jimmy), Raymond (Dianne) DesRoches, Melvin (Pat) DesRoches, Austin (Anne) DesRoches, Nancy (Ivan) Gallant, and nephew Michael DesRoches who was like another brother to him as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sister Louise (Al) McCully and brother Alan DesRoches.
Ken had a passion for golfing, playing pool, camping, playing crib and scat as well as a competitive game of marbles. Most of all Ken enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family get-togethers. For Ken, family was everything and he will be greatly by missed by all.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Road, Summerside. In honour of Ken’s wishes there will be no funeral service or visiting hours. Feel free to leave sympathy messages to Ken’s family on the memorial page to pay him tribute. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
