
Obituary of Eugene Philip Bernard
The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on April 25th, 2025 of Eugene Philip Bernard of Summerside, aged 76 years. Eugene was born in Summerside to his late parents David and Teresa Bernard.
Beloved husband of 56 years to Debbie (Giddings) and loving father of Tahnee and Aron (Melanie). Much adored grandfather of Vincent, Kyleigh & Greyson.
Survived by brother-in-law and lifelong friend Glenn Giddings and the following brothers and sisters Keir (Leona), Brenda, Bonnie, Joan (Tommy), David (Patsy), Ann and Patrick (Peggy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his parents, mother and father in-law Sam and Claire Giddings, his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
There will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.Donations in Eugene’s memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
