Obituary of MacDonald, Vernon Patrick
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 of Vernon Patrick MacDonald of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 72 years. Vernon was born in Grand River, P.E.I. to his late parents John and Margaret ( nee Bulger ) MacDonald.
Survived by his son Justin ( Christine ) of Ottawa, Ontario and their children James and Daniel. Also survived by his brother Ed ( Reta ) of Cardinal, ON.
Besides his parents, Vernon was predeceased by his brothers and sisters : Herbie, Austin, Lila Pineau, Stella Warren, Jack, Byron and Eileen Typher and also Justin's mother Phyllis ( nee Mulligan ) MacDonald.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, December 21st , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Grand River. Memorial donations in Vernon's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
