Obituary of Doucette, Alfred Joseph
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, July 24th , 2009 of Alfred Joseph Doucette of Summerside, and formerly of St. Louis, P.E.I. aged 72 years. Alfred was born on May 28th, 1937 in St. Louis, P.E.I. to his late parents Bazil & Winnifred (nee Poirier) Doucette.
Beloved husband of Irene (nee Gaudet) Doucette and loving father of Rodney (Sheila) of Miscouche, Darryl (Louise) of Borden/Carleton, Glenna (Darrell) Richards of Summerside & Alan Gaudet (stepson) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his special granddaughter Sabrina Doucette, 9 grandchildren, 2 step- grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Survived by his brother & sisters Lorriane (Edlow) Albert of Alberton, Wanda Doucette, Austin Doucette & Velda (Georgie) Gallant all of St. Louis, Marie (Paul) Birtley of Orangeville, Ont. & Yvonne (Joey) Harper of Anglo Tignish.
Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his sisters Clara Mae in infancy & Violet .
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Monday July 27th , 2009 then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Memorial donations in Alfred's memory to the C.O.P.D., P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Following cremation, interment to take place in the church cemetery on Tuesday July 28th, at 11:00 a.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
