Obituary of Arsenault, George Clifford
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital on Wednesday, April 8th , 2009 of George Clifford Arsenault of Summerside , P.E.I. , retired Chief of Police of Summerside , aged 72 years. George was born on July 19th , 1936 in Summerside, P.E.I. to his late parents, Theodore and Bella Arsenault.
Beloved husband of Connie ( nee Clow ) Arsenault and loving father of Karlene and step-father of Karen Perry and Kim Edwards, all of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Greg, Nathan, Robbi-Lynn and Morgan, his great grandchildren Brodie and Cole and special son-in-law Kevin Perry. Survived by his brothers and sisters: Leonard ( Mary ), Donnie ( Phyllis ) , Theresa Veno, Marie ( Elmer ) Perry all of Summerside , Beth McWatters and Dorothy Thompson of Ontario. Also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and brothers & sisters-in-law.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brothers Walter, Gussie, Melvin, Henry and Ernie, his sister Edna and brothers-in-law Clayton Perry, Elgin Veno, Cline McWatters, Doug Thompson and Charlie Buhler.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Monday April 13th , 2009 for funeral mass at St. Paul's Church, Summerside at 2:00 p.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in George's memory to the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince County Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday , 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m..
Comrades of the George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion , Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
