Obituary of Somers, Willa Melissa
The death occurred on Thursday, February 26th , 2009 of Willa Melissa Somers ( nee Caseley ) of Summerside and formerly of Kensington, P.E.I. in her 89th year. Dear wife of the late Ralph Somers & loving mother of Gary ( Jane ) , Grant ( Andy Lou ) , Gwen ( Ken ) St. John all of Summerside & Gillian ( James ) Hannam of Halifax, N.S.. Also lovingly remembered by her 14 grandchildren , 18 great- grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. Survived by her brother Nelson ( Ruth ) Caseley of S'side.
Besides her husband, Willa was predeceased by her parents Heath & Ethel ( nee Clark ) Caseley, her daughter Gail Boyko, her grandson Randy Boyko, her brother Clark ( Dolly ) Caseley and her sisters Edith ( Bruce ) Riley, Velda ( Earle ) Hogg & Anna ( Doug ) MacMurdo.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, where a Memorial Service for family & friends to celebrate Willa's life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:30 p.m.. There will be no visiting hours by family request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Willa's memory to the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
