Obituary of Hogg, Russell Alvin
?The death occurred peacefully with family by his side at the Summerset Manor, Summerside on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 of Russell Alvin Hogg of Summerside , P.E.I. and formally of Travellers Rest, aged 84 years.Russell was born on May 17th , 1924 in St. Eleanors, P.E.I. to his late parents Robert & Gladys ( nee Oatway ) Hogg .
Beloved husband of Jean ( nee Fitzsimmons ) Hogg & loving father of Norma ( Andre ) Pelletier of Calgary, Ab., Donna ( Jerry ) Janes of Lower Sackville, N.S., Austin ( Michelle ),Faye Boyles & Kenneth all of S'side. Also lovingly remembered by his daughter-in-law Carol Hogg of Miscouche , son-in-law David Boyles of S'side, his 10 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren. Survived by his brothers & sisters Leigh ( Hilda ) of S'side, Ora Arsenault & Loretta Waite of Toronto, On. & Charlotte ( Elmer ) Rayner of St. Eleanors.
Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his sister Estelle Ackerman & brothers-in-law Kenneth Ackerman, Ellery Arsenault & Francis Waite.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, January 17th , 2009 then to St. Paul's Church, S'side for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Mary's - Holy Family Cemetery, Indian River. Visiting hours on Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. . In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Russell's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
