Obituary of Landry, Melina Mary
?The death occurred suddenly at her late residence on Monday, December 29th , 2008 of Melina Mary Landry ( nee Bernard ) of Summerside, aged 82 years. Melina was born on June 12th , 1926 in St. Philippe, P.E.I. to her late parents, Emilien & Ida ( nee Cormier ) Bernard.
Beloved wife of Henry 'Hank' Landry and loving mother of Michael ( Judy ) of Winsloe , Gisele ( Fred ) Martin of Maximeville, Danny ( Sharon ) of S'side, Vance ( Sue ) of Halifax, N.S., Anne ( Rose ) of Stratford, Nola ( Barry ) Button of Upper Tantallon, N.S., Ellen Collier of S'side, Sheila ( Gary ) Barlow of S'side & Jamie ( Linda ) of Ch'town. Also lovingly remembered by her 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces & nephews.
Survived by the following brothers & sisters : Clarisse ( Edward ) Daigle, Louise ( Leo ) Poirier, Henri ( Antoinette ) Bernard, Albina ( Fred ) Arsenault, Margaret ( Desmond ) Arsenault all of S'side & Rosie Gallant of Wellington. Besides her parents, Melina was predeceased by her sister Mary Richard and her brothers-in-law Albin Richard & Jerome Gallant.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, December 31st then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 1:30 P.M.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Melina's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
