Obituary of Smith, James " Jim " Campbell
The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital, on Thursday, November 13th , 2008 of James 'Jim' Campbell Smith of Summerside , P.E.I. , aged 53 years. Jim was born in Summerside on March 23rd , 1955 to his late parents, George & Lila ( nee Cotton ) Smith.
Loving husband of Kim ( nee Walker ) Smith and loving father of Mitchell of S'side. Survived by his sister Judy ( Norman ) Cole of Indian River and his brothers George Jr. 'Sonny' ( Edith ) , Blair , Wilfred ( Lorraine ) and Gordon ( Anne Wright ) all of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his father & mother-in-law Rodger & Gail Walker of Alberta ,along with several nieces & nephews.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, November 17th , 2008 then to St. Mary's Anglican Church, Summerside for funeral service at 11:00 a.m. . Interment to take place in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, St. Eleanors. Visiting hours on Sunday , 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
