Obituary of Allain, Joseph " Gerald "
The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, October 23rd , 2008 of Joseph 'Gerald' Allain of Miscouche and formerly of St. Edwards, P.E.I. , aged 68 years. Gerald was born in St. Edwards on April 21st , 1940 to his late parents, Ben & Denise ( nee Gaudet ) Allain.
Beloved husband of Olive ( nee DesRoches ) Allain loving father of Ben ( Janice ) Perry of Dartmouth, N.S., Lisa ( Mark ) Ronahan of Miscouche , Becky Allain ( Roger Smith ) of Emyvale & Matthew Allain of Halifax, N.S.. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Brendan & Colby Ronahan , Noelle Pettipas & Nikita & Max Perry, his mother-in-law Mary DesRoches of Miscouche, along with several nieces & nephews. Survived by the following brothers & sisters : Eva ( Marty ) Woznica of Scarborough, On. , Jane Dugay ( Leo Gallant ) of S'side, Joe 'Zie' ( Catherine ) of Whitehorse, Yukon, Melvin of St. Edwards, Nelda ( George ) Arsenault of Nail Pond , Philip ( Carmen ) of Miminegash, Phyllis ( Henry ) Gaudet of St. Edwards, Clifford of S'side and Wayne ( Chris ) of S'side.
Besides his parents , Gerald was predeceased by his father-in-law Urban DesRoches, his infant siblings Henry & MaryAnn, his sister-in-law Jean Allain & his brother-in-law Freddie Dugay.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, October 27th then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Sunday , 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. . Memorial donations in Gerald's memory to St. John the Baptist Church Restoration Fund or the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
