Obituary of Handrahan, Peter Vincent
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor,Summerside, on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 of Peter Vincent Handrahan of Kensington, and formerly of Tignish, aged 90 years. Vincent was born on June 26th, 1917, in Norway, P.E.I. to his late parents Austin and Melvina ( Ready ) Handrahan. Beloved husband of the late Marion ( nee McQuaid ) Handrahan.
Survived by his sisters-in- law Alice Hunt, Peggy Spilsbury, Mary, Teresa, & Joan McQuaid. Also lovingly remembered by several nieces & nephews.
Predeceased by his sisters Eileen (Roy) Harper, Viola (Wade) Harper, Anna (Jack) Connolly, Emily (Melvin) McQuaid and by his brothers Alfred (Emily), Stephen, Austin & Bernard Handrahan.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, May 28th, then to the Church of the Holy Family, Kensington for funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M..Interment to take place in St.Simon and St.Jude Parish Cemetery, Tignish at 3:00 P.M.. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening only, 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Vincent's memory to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund or Meals on Wheels, Kensington would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
