Obituary of DesRoches, Leta Mary
The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, April 12th , 2008 of Leta Mary DesRoches ( nee Noonan ) of Searletown, P.E.I. , aged 75 years. Leta was born in Searletown on May 3rd , 1932 to her late parents, Loman & Cecelia ( nee Laughlin ) Noonan.
Beloved wife of Austin DesRoches and loving mother of Cathy ( Dan ) Ross of Emerald, George ( Judy ) of St. Eleanors, Diana ( Calvin ) Coughlin of S'side, Donna ( Todd ) Swim of St. Eleanors, Lisa DesRoches & Brent DesRoches living at home. Also lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren Susan, Amanda & Darcy, her very special aunt Emma Noonan of S'side and many nieces & nephews. Survived by her brothers & sisters : Helen ( Ralph ) DesRoches of Borden, Bernadette ( Malcolm )McGregor of B.C. , Bertha ( George ) Murphy of Ch'town , Reggie ( Adele )Noonan of Bedeque, Benny ( Rose-Marie ) Noonan of Searletown & Garnet ( Coleen ) Noonan of Searletown.
Besides her parents, Leta was predeceased by her step-mother Ida Noonan ,her granddaughter Codi-Lynn Coughlin and her brother Leo Noonan.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road,Summerside until Wednesday, April 16th , then to St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Leta's memory to St. Peter's Church Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
