Obituary of DeCoste, Joseph Alfred " Freddy "
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor , Summerside on Wednesday, January 16th , 2008 of Joseph Alfred 'Freddy' DeCoste, formerly of St. Eleanors, aged 80 years. Alfred was born on April 6th , 1927 in Summerside , P.E.I. to his late parents John & Obeline ( nee DesRoches )DeCoste.
Loving brother of Augustine 'Gus' of Summerside and Mary ( Steve ) Kovacs of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also lovingly remembered by several nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents, Freddy was predeceased by his sister Angie ( Wilfred ) Doucette & his brothers : Louis ( Lena ) , John ( Laura ) , Charles ( Lucy ) and his sister-in-law Rose DeCoste.
A Memorial Service will be held at the East Prince Funeral Home Chapel , 245 Pope Road, Summerside on Wednesday, May 14th , 2008 at 11:00 a.m. . Interment to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery,Summerside. Memorial donations in Freddy's memory to the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
