Obituary of Wood, Kathryn " Kay " Haslam
The death occurred peacefully at the Beach Grove Home, Charlottetown on Sunday,December 16th, 2007 of Kathryn 'Kay' Haslam Wood ( nee MacQuarrie ), formerly of Victoria , P.E.I. , aged 100 years. Kay was born in Hampton, P.E.I. on June 25th , 1907 to her parents, the late William & Morey ( nee MacVittie ) MacQuarrie.Beloved wife of the late Howard B. Wood.
Lovingly remembered by her grandson Donald ( Jude ) Wood , her daughter-in-law Wanda Wood , her great-grandchildren Lexi, Leah & Cain Wood , all of Victoria, P.E.I. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents & her husband , Kay was predeceased by her son Lyman Wood and numerous brothers & sisters.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd.,Summerside until Thursday , December 20th for memorial service in the funeral home
chapel at 11:00 a.m. . Interment to take place at a later date in Crapaud People's Cemetery . Memorial donations in Kay's memory to True Brother's Masonic Lodge # 8 Building Fund would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hours by family request .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
