Obituary of MacCormack, Daniel " Dan " Joseph
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday, December 2nd , 2007 of Daniel Joseph Jerome MacCormack of Summerside, aged 84 years. Veteran of World War II. Dan was born in Boughton Island, P.E.I. on June 12th , 1923 to his late parents , John & Mary ( nee MacLean ) MacCormack .
Beloved husband of Gemma ( nee Gosse ) MacCormack & loving father of Frank ( Louise ) of S'side, Billie ( Claude ) Gallant of East Royalty, Gail ( Jack ) Praught of S'side, Larry ( Jan ) of Oromocto, N.B.,Mary Clair ( Rick ) Maclagan of Edmonton, Ab., Anne ( Bud ) Brander of S'side and Joe of Calgary, Ab.. Also lovingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law Stella MacCormack of London, On. and Rita McGrattan of Halifax, N.S. and several nieces & nephews. Survived by his sisters Mary MacDonald of S'side, Anne Ready of Ch'town, Therese Peters of Rollo Bay,Susan Peters of Souris and Jean MacDonald of Mount Herbert.
Besides his parents,Dan was predeceased by his brother John.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Thursday, Dec. 6th then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donation's in Dan's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m..
Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 5, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. . Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, P.E.I. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
