Obituary of MacEwen, Byron Arnold
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital ,Summerside, on Sunday, November 18th , 2007 of Byron Arnold MacEwen of Summerside and formerly of Sherbrooke, aged 86 years. Byron was born in Sherbrooke, P.E.I. on April 13th , 1921, to his parents the late William & Bessie ( nee Gunning ) MacEwen.
Beloved husband of Gladys ( nee Fitzsimmons )MacEwen and loving father of Betty Praught ( Bill Waller ) , Paul ( Tracey ) and Stephen ( Noelle Cole ). Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Laurie Anne ( Derik ) Hohman, Pam ( Andrew ) Dennis & Shelby Cole , his great-grandchildren Carter Praught , Hannah & Harrison Hohman and several nieces & nephews. Survived by the following brothers & sisters-in-law : Barb, Helen, Gerri & Dorothy MacEwen, Jean ( Russell ) Hogg, James ( Angela ) Fitzsimmons, Ralph ( Ruth ) Fitzsimmons, Emmett ( Shirley ) Fitzsimmons, Hilda Fitzsimmons, Billy ( Anne ) Fitzsimmons, Earl ( Dolly ) Fitzsimmons and Ethel Luciauno.
Besides his parents , Byron was predeceased by his brothers & sisters : Marjorie ( Roy ) Brown,Ira ( Anna ), Catherine ( Elmer ) MacNeill, Erskine , Shelton , Keith and Kenneth.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M. Interment to take place in St. Mary's Holy Family Cemetery, Indian River. Memorial donation's in Byron's memory to St. Mary's Holy Family Cemetery Fund or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
