Obituary of Handrahan, Jean Mary
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday, January 7th , 2006 of Jean Mary Handrahan ( nee Fitzpatrick )of Lefurgey Ave., Summerside , aged 73 years. Jean was born in Summerside , P.E.I. on August 9th, 1933 to her parents , the late Bernard & Corinne ( nee Richard ) Fitzpatrick.Beloved wife of the late Fred Handrahan.
Survived by her brothers & sisters: Ralph ( Henrietta ) Fitzpatrick of S'side, Edward ( Jean ) Fitzpatrick of Alta., Rena Fitzpatrick of Toronto, Ont. and Norma ( Robert ) Steele of S'side. Also lovingly remembered by
several nieces & nephews.
Besides her parents & her husband, Jean was predeceased by her sister Diane Fitzpatrick.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Rd.,Summerside until Wednesday, then to St. Paul's Church, S'side for funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery . Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. . Donations in Jean's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or to St. Paul's Church Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
