Obituary of DesRoches, Mary " Corinne "
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Summerset Manor, Summerside on Sunday, October 15th , 2006 of Corinne DesRoches ( nee DesRoches ),formerly of Miscouche , aged 101 years. Corinne was born in Miscouche , P.E.I. on October 16th , 1904 to her late parents, Prosper & Emma
( nee Gaudet ) DesRoches .
Beloved wife of the late Tilman E. DesRoches and loving mother of Rosalie ( Ulric ) Gallant of Miscouche and Dena Ries ( Al Harris ) of Moose Jaw, Sask. . Lovingly remembered by her 5 grandchildren : Michael, Greg ( Colleen ),Jeff ( Sheri) , Paulette ( Donnie ) & Jodi ( Mike ) ; her 9 great-grandchildren: Alex, Allison, Dylan, Adam, Dexter, Haylee, Paige, Cassidy and Gracie ; her sisters-in-law Marie ( William ) Poirier and Lucy DesRoches of Miscouche ; along with numerous nieces & nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband , Corinne was predeceased by her sister, Sr. Hermina DesRoches CND , her brothers Eric, Leo & Louis DesRoches,her brothers-in-law Martin, Adrian, Ben & Anthony DesRoches and her sons-in-law John Perry & Alan Ries.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Wednesday, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10:30 A.M..Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Corinne's memory to the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund or to St. John the Baptist Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
