Obituary of MacDonald, Owen Douglas
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Sunday, October 8th , 2006 of Owen Douglas MacDonald of West Point, P.E.I., aged 72 years. Beloved husband of Thelma ( nee Stewart) MacDonald. Owen was born in West Point to his late parents, Ernest and Beatrice (Bulger) MacDonald, on June 12, 1934.
He is lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters: Tryposia Carruthers, O'Leary, Gordon, S'Side, Daisy Young, O'Leary, Lynwood (Audrey), West Point, Geraldine (Melvin) Sampson, Sydney, NS, Gertrude Gay, O'Leary, Lorraine (Leroy) Glenn, Tatamagouche, NS. and Tanya Morrison (Mike DesRoches), S'Side , his brothers-in-law Roy (Rose) Stewart, Freeland, and Blaine Stewart, Mississauga Ont, and his sister-in-law Judy Stewart, S'Side, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Owen was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Allison Carruthers, Harry Young, Gordon Gay, and Gary Stewart and his sister-in-law Joan MacDonald.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday then to Corpus Christi Church, Glenwood P.E.I. for funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 7-9 PM at the funeral home and Wednesday 10:30-10:45 AM at Corpus Christi Church . Memorial donations in Owen's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Society would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
