Obituary of Coughlin, Ada Ruby
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital,Summerside on Tuesday, July 4th , 2006 of Ada Ruby Coughlin ( nee MacLaurin )of St. Eleanors and formerly of Lot 16, aged 88 years. Ada was born in Summerside,P.E.I. on April 11, 1918 to her parents, the late Arthur & Inez ( nee Gamble ) MacLaurin . Beloved wife of the late Channing 'Chan' Coughlin .
Loving mother of Betty Klim of B.C., Phyllis ( Russell ) Palmer of N.B. and Ivan ( Betty ) Coughlin of Lot 16. Also lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by her sisters & brothers-in-law Glen Paynter of Ch'town, Bertha MacLaren of S'side , Russell Coughlin of S'side and Earl ( Dolly ) Coughlin of Ellerslie.
Besides her husband and her parents she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters : Pearl Ellis,Jennie Betton, Ruth MacLaurin,Bea Gardner,Frank MacLaurin, Hazel White and Helen Szlanka.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Saturday for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 A.M. Interment to take place in the Lot 16 United Church Cemetery. Visiting hours on Friday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.. Memorial donations in Ada's memory to the Lot 16 United Church Cemetery Fund or the Church Building Fund would be greatly appreciated .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
