Obituary of Doucette, Joseph Edward " Eddy "
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside on Friday , May 12th , 2006 of Joseph Edward 'Eddy' Doucette , formerly of Summerside & Bedeque , aged 73 years. Eddy was born in St. Edwards, P.E.I. on December 15th , 1932 to his parents, the late Ben & Catherine ( nee Perry ) Doucette.
Beloved husband of Audrey ( nee Gallant ) Doucette and loving father of Nancy M.Doucette of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his grandson Corey Poirier of Halifax, N.S. along with Eddy's very special pet Scamphill . He is survived by his sister Louise Arsenault of Miscouche, Doris Costain of Montrose, Josie ( Wilfred ) Doucette of S'side ,his brother Francis ( Geralda ) Doucette of Miscouche , his brothers & sisters-in-law : Joe 'Aubrey' ( Alice ) Myers, Leonard ( Jean ) Gallant , Pinky ( Theresa ) Gallant, Alice ( Joe ) Gallant, Sadie ( Joe ) Perry, Shirley ( Lewie ) Riley, Dora ( John ) DesChamp, Doreen ( Clayton ) Gallant, Bobby ( Sandy ) Gallant and Judy ( Brian ) Bernard and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers in infancy Benjamin, Joseph and Russell , his sister Rita ( Henry ) Hustler, his brothers-in-law Art Arsenault & Alvin Costain and his godsons Gussy Hustler & Raymond Doucette.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday then to St. Paul's Church, S'side for funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours on Monday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.. Memorial donations in Eddy's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
