Obituary of Gallant, Joseph " Edmund "
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Summerset Manor, Summerside on Tuesday, April 4th , 2006 of Joseph 'Edmund' Gallant of Summerside , aged 88 years. Veteran of World War II . Edmund was born in Summerside on September 18th , 1917 to his parents, the late Fred & Alvina ( nee Barrette ) Gallant.
Beloved husband of Bernadette ( nee Pineau ) Gallant. Loving father of Debbie ( Ken Miller ) Gallant of Stratford, Monica ( Donald ) Smith of Kingston, N.S., Fred ( Joy ) of S'side, Patrick ( Kathy ) of S'side, Robert ( Dianne ) of Wellington and his daughter-in-law Debra Gallant of S'side. Also lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Survived by his brother Oliver ( Mae ) of Tignish and his sister Mary Ratelle of S'side.
Predeceased by his son Michael and his sister Marguerite Gaudet.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Friday, for funeral mass in St. Paul's Church, Summerside at 10:00 A.M. . Interment to take place at a later date in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Edmund's memory to the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:45 P.M. by Comrades of the George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5 , Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside .

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
