Obituary of Poirier, Irene Margaret
The death occurred peacefully at the Stewart Memorial Hospital, Tyne Valley on Wednesday , March 29th , 2006 of Irene Margaret Poirier ( nee Arsenault ) of 95 MacWilliams Dr., S'side and formerly of 127 Ottawa St., S'side , aged 97 years. Irene was born in Wellington, P.E.I. on September 26, 1908 to her parents , the late Emile & Elizabeth ( nee Poirier )Arsenault . Beloved wife of the late Louis P. Poirier. Irene was a long time member of St. Paul's C.W.L. and Summerside Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Loving mother of John ( Margaret ) of St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A., Joanne ( Jim ) Mullins of S'side and Robert ( Simone ) of S'side. Also lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren,11 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her daughter-in-law Shirley Poirier of Labrador City, Nfld and her sisters-in-law Alice Poirier and Fedora Arsenault of Summerside.
Predeceased by her sons Louie and Aurele and her brothers and sisters ; Wilfred Arsenault, Cordelia ( Joseph ) Gaudet ,Donalda ( Laurier ) Peters, Marie Arsenault, Henry ( Eunice ) Arsenault and Corrine ( Edward ) Perry.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd.,Summerside until Saturday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. . Interment to take place at a later date in the church cemetery.Memorial donations in Irene's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated . Visiting hours on Friday , 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. . Members of St. Paul's C.W.L. will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Friday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. .

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
