Obituary of Harris, Gordon Eugene
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Wednesday, November 16th , 2005 of Gordon Eugene Harris of 401 Chestnut Ave.,Summerside, aged 84 years. Veteran of World War II. Gordon was born in Knutsford on May 31st , 1921 to his parents, the late Harry & Laura ( nee Yeo ) Harris.
Beloved husband of Helen ( nee Doucette ) Harris and loving father of Cathy ( Gary ) Gaudet of S'side, Marlene ( Brian ) Rogers of North Bedeque and David of Toronto, Ont.. Also lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren, Jennifer Gaudet and Beth & Blake Rogers,along with his brother Douglas of the Wedgewood Manor, S'side and his sister-in-law Catherine ( Windsor ) Arsenault of S'side.
He was predeceased by his brothers Lewellyn, Herman, Ivan, Leaman and Willis Harris and his sisters Mary Gorrill, Albina MacDonald and Reby Beck.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd.,Summerside until Friday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 2:00 P.M. . Interment in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday evening only, 7-9 PM only. Memorial donations in Gordon's memory to the Kidney Foundation of P.E.I. or to St. Paul's Church would be greatly appreciated. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
