Obituary of MacDonald, Catherine Maria
MacDonald The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside on Saturday July 30, 2005, of Catherine Maria (nee MacDonald) MacDonald of Wedgewood Manor and formerly of Grand River, Bayside Lot #14, aged 96 years. Dear wife of the late Joseph E. MacDonald, she was the last survivor of the 19
children of the late John A. and Janie (MacLellen) MacDonald. She was the loving mother of John (Marie), Patricia Gaudet , and Jean (Adrian) Gaudet, all of Summerside. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, her daughter-in-law Sylvia MacDonald and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents , her brothers and sisters, she was predeceased by her daughter Patricia (infancy) and by her son Robert. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, then to the St. Patrick's Church, Grand River for funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment to
take place in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Grand River. Memorial donations in
Catherine's memory to the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly
appreciated. Visiting hours Monday 6-9 P.M. only. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Rd. , Summerside .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
