Obituary of Laughlin, Joan Claire
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital,Summerside on Monday, July 11th , 2005 of Joan Claire Laughlin ( nee MacDonald ) of 12 Main Dr., Miscouche, aged 61 years. Beloved wife of Reg Laughlin. Loving mother of Dawn ( Kevin O'Brien ) of Miscouche and Chris ( Lorri ) of Stanchel. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kayla Baglole and Jackson and Benjamin O'Brien.
Survived by her brothers Aubrey ( Eloise ) MacDonald of S'side,Dick ( Marie ) MacDonald of Ch'town, Donnie ( Nancy ) MacDonald of Bedeque, Grant MacDonald ( Darlene Watson ) of S'side, her sister Helen ( Paul Arsenault ) of Emyvale, her sister-in-law Faye MacDonald of S'side, her brothers-in-law Bernard ( Claire ) Laughlin of Tilsonburg, Ont., Francis ( Barbara )Laughlin of Wasaga Beach, Ont., her sisters-in-law Donna Gallant ( John Hogan )of Stanley, N.B. and Connie Laughlin of Miscouche, along with many aunts, uncles,cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ralph & Zeta ( nee Gallant ) MacDonald, her brother Bobby in infancy, her brother-in-law Edward Laughlin, and her parents-in-law Reginald & Eileen ( nee MacNeill )Laughlin.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside,until Friday , then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. . Following cremation, interment to take place in the church cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Oncology Unit or the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday evening only, from 6 - 9 P.M. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
