Obituary of Gallant, George Emmerson
? Gallant : The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital,Summerside on Wednesday, February 23rd , 2005 of 'George' Emmerson Gallant of Andrew's Lodge and formerly of Notre Dame St. Summerside , aged 97 years. He was a veteran of the World War 11. Loving husband of the late Anna (Wedge) Gallant and loving father of Shirley Gauthier, S'Side, Gordon (Joan), Calgary, Ab, Barbara (Glen) McWilliam, Penticton, B.C. and Joseph, Toronto On. He is also lovingly remembered by 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Evelyn Peters, Leona (Norman) Perry, Joe (Doris), all of S'Side, Theresa MacLean, Victoria, B.C., Connie Laughlin, Miscouche, Lynnie (Grant) Grady, Freetown, and Mary (Bill) Acorn Ch'town. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lollie (Costain) Gallant, brothers Lawrence, Reginald and Clifford (in infancy), his sisters Bertha Sullivan, Hilda Smith and Zita MacDonald and son-in-law Ronald Gauthier. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road Summerside until Friday, then to St. Paul's Church for funeral mass at 10:30 AM. . Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date . Memorial donations in George's memory to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund or to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. No visitation by personal request.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
