Obituary of Alexander James Stewart
The death occurred peacefully at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Friday, November 11th, 2022, of Alexander "Chub" James Stewart of Summerside, aged 47 years. Alex was born in Tyne Valley, P.E.I. to the late Elmer and Eleanor (Barlow) Stewart.
Father to Ethan and Naomi Noonan, Rebecca Hannaford-Smith, and Bianca Doull; grandfather to Mika, Skyler, Karma and Benjamin.
Survived by his brothers Dale (Becky), David (June) and Allan, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Predeceased by his grandparents Cecil and Binie Stewart and John Howard and Addie Barlow.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday, November 17th, 2022, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in Tyne Valley United Church Cemetery, Tyne Valley. Memorial donations in Alex's memory to PEI Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
